One Percent Brighter is looking for a co-host for a different kind of climate podcast: heterodox, fearless, unpredictable.
The perfect co-host is:
Wicked smart
Happy behind a microphone
Into questioning received ideas
Funny
If you’re a climate nerd with an Ecomodernist sensibility impatient with tired old ideas and predictable takes, this could be a great gig for you.
Context
One Percent Brighter is a moderately successful Substack with an established heterodox audience. The author (=me, =Quico Toro) is an experienced journalist and Director of Climate Repair at Anthropocene Institute. We think the climate crisis is real and consensus climate solutions are mostly fake.
Our goal is to broaden the Overton Window to include much more focus on climate technologies that people don’t think of as “green”: nuclear energy, marine Carbon Dioxide Removal, animal-free meat, sustainable aquaculture, low energy nuclear reaction, things like that. You don’t have to agree with all of these, but you do need a mindset open to questioning conventional wisdom.
The role
We’ll record one episode per week, and we’ll alternate weeks. One week Quico researches a topic and you go in cold, the other week roles switch. The cold host knows exactly nothing about what the episode will be about, and serves as an audience stand-in.
